LaboratoryGetting Your Most Critical Information to the Right Caregiver One of the most important tasks the lab has is to alert caregivers of patient results that require immediate attention. These are in the form of critical and/or panic values. Through the use of the Responder system, you can communicate to the patient's caregiver in two ways.
The first is to send a text message of the room and lab value. This allows the lab technician to send the message to the exact RN, LPN, or PCT that is caring for that patient. This eliminates calling to the unit, having them identify the caregiver, getting them to the phone, and calling back if they are busy. The caregiver will have it stored on their wireless phone or pager and can read it at the next available opportunity. This is especially helpful if they are with a patient at that time.
The second is to call the caregiver directly on their wireless device. Our Staff Directory makes it easy to find the caregiver you need and display the wireless device number or extension they are carrying. Sometimes you need to speak to the nurse or physician directly and a text message will not due.
Display Alarms Specific to Your Department Your blood bank and tissue freezer may have alarms all onto themselves. We can alert staff of the alarm on their wireless device and/or display on a marquee in the department. This makes notification uniform and efficient. |
