Nursery
Communication Protects Even Your Smallest Patients Responder systems integrate with securing systems to protect the nursery, especially if the unit is locked down with swipe-card security. When a card-carrying individual swipes in for access, Responder gives nursing staff visual contact via a CCTV connection. Staff can see who is coming into the department without having line-of-sight to the doors. Visitors can also request entry by pressing a button at the doors; the nursing station can see the visitor on a monitor before granting them access.
Responder systems also integrate with infant abduction systems. When an infant is banded with a transmitter, and that band is cut or taken from the unit/building, an alarm will sound. A code pink process indicates the exit door, notifies security staff, locks down the unit/doors, and sounds an audible alarm overhead. All customized to fit your environment and the processes best to fit your nursery.
Integration Improves Patient Care Responder can alert the nursery of specific requests, for example, if a mother wants her child brought to the room she can call the nursery to make a request to the nurse. Responder also improves care in many other ways:
- Responder integrates with vital monitoring systems. Monitor alarms can be routed directly to a specific caregiver. If infant emergency or medical emergency response is needed, Responder will contact these resources, thereby providing an alternative means of notification.
- The system can remind staff of routine tasks, such as conducting an infant count, checking on infant breathing and diaper changing.
- Different paths of communication are customized to fit your environment. Those processes in your hospital may vary from department-to-department, let Responder adapt to your specific patient needs, no matter the size.
