MT PROSPECT, Illinois – March 2, 2017 – Rauland, a division of AMETEK, Inc., has been honored for its Manufacturing Leadership by Frost & Sullivan’s Manufacturing Leadership Council.
Frost & Sullivan recognized Rauland for enabling smart manufacturing technologies that improved production processes and enabled better traceability of components. The award will be presented at Frost & Sullivan’s Manufacturing Leadership Summit in June.
In implementing the process technologies, Rauland established parent/child serial number traceability for complete assembled items. Rauland implemented a Paper-Less manufacturing execution system (MES) as the foundation for this requirement. Benefits gained include:
- Improved traceability
- Parent/child serialization
- Increased efficiency
- Improved gathering of labor data
The optimized process minimizes the need for human input, using digital systems instead, including scanners, touchscreen displays and advanced technology. The system has resulted in more reliable, real-time data capture and archiving of data.
“It is increasingly important in our industry to have accurate, reliable traceability of assembled units manufactured on our assembly lines,” says Eduardo Jacobo, Rauland’s Executive Vice President of Operations. “This requirement is imperative for achieving regulatory compliance and improved efficiency of production operations.”
